New York-based Tabbed has joined the Toast Partner Ecosystem, linking its Bluetooth-enabled mobile payment and AI guest-intelligence platform directly to the Toast cloud POS — a move that operators say cuts payment-related service time by more than nine minutes per table and lifts average tips 24 percent, based on a six-month pilot at a single Atlanta restaurant.
The integration works by using Tabbed's proprietary Bluetooth stack to automatically pair a guest's phone with their active check the moment they sit down. Guests dine as normal, then close their tab or walk out when ready — no waiting for a printed check, no card terminal, no signature. Parties splitting a bill can divide it in seconds from their own phones, eliminating tableside math and reducing server trips at the end of the meal.
AI Upsell on the POS
Beyond frictionless checkout, the platform pushes AI-generated service cues to the Toast POS display in real time: wine pairings matched to live entrée orders, prompts for a second round at the right moment, and dessert suggestions timed to the table's pace. Guest preference history, dining frequency, and allergy notes pulled from prior visits surface automatically, giving front-of-house teams a running profile without manual lookup. "There's a difference between service and hospitality," said Grant Pignio, CEO at Tabbed. "The challenge has always been that even a great server can't remember every guest. By integrating with Toast, Tabbed can put that information in front of Toast customers the moment a guest sits down."
Nick Danforth, Senior Director of Business Development at Toast, called the addition a way for operators to run "a more efficient and customer-centric business," noting that the Toast Partner Ecosystem now exceeds 200 integrated technology and services providers.
Operator and Channel Implications
For operators already running Toast hardware on the line, adoption requires no new POS terminals or kitchen equipment — the intelligence layer rides on existing infrastructure. That makes it straightforward for multi-unit groups and ghost or commissary kitchen operators who standardize on Toast across locations to add the feature without a capital spend. The reputation-management component — which surfaces negative guest feedback privately at checkout before it reaches public review sites — adds another operational lever for managers overseeing high-volume covers.
The broader trend here is the growing overlap between front-of-house POS technology and back-of-house operational efficiency. As labor costs remain elevated across foodservice, platforms that reduce server workload at checkout — and simultaneously drive incremental revenue through AI-assisted upselling — are drawing increased attention from operators and the dealer-channel partners who specify and install full kitchen and dining-room technology stacks. Tabbed's advisory board includes Paul Brown, Founder and CEO of Inspire Brands, and GJ Hart, CEO of SPB Hospitality, signaling intent to scale into larger multi-unit and franchise environments where POS standardization already runs deep.
