Diversified Foodservice Supply (DFS) has appointed Chris Cassidy as Chief Operating Officer, effective immediately, tapping a logistics and supply chain executive with more than 25 years of senior leadership across healthcare distribution, freight technology, and supply chain software to sharpen the company's operational edge.
Cassidy's Background
Cassidy's career spans some of the more demanding distribution environments in global commerce. He spent more than a decade at GSK directing international logistics operations, then moved to UPS to lead global healthcare logistics strategy before becoming Chief Revenue Officer at Trax Technologies. Most recently he served as President and CEO of ConData, a freight audit and analytics firm, and prior to that was CEO of Mojix, a supply chain software company that merged with Seagull Software under his tenure. He holds an industrial engineering degree from Georgia Institute of Technology and an executive certificate in supply chain management from MIT.
In the COO seat at DFS, Cassidy will have direct oversight of Distribution, Customer Service, the Project Management Office, Human Resources, and Marketing Operations — essentially the full operational stack that moves commercial kitchen equipment parts and supplies from warehouse to end customer. CEO Lev Peker framed the hire around strengthening distribution capabilities and improving delivery reliability: "His background in global logistics and supply chain management will be instrumental as we strengthen our distribution capabilities, improve service for our customers, and position DFS for long-term growth."
What It Means for Dealers and Operators
For the dealers, service agencies, and institutional operators that rely on DFS's portfolio — which includes AllPoints, TundraFMP, KNG, HoodFilters.com, Gaskets Unlimited, and Espresso Parts — the appointment signals a deliberate investment in parts availability and fulfillment speed. Those metrics matter acutely in commercial kitchens, where a failed fryer component or a refrigeration gasket out of stock can mean equipment downtime and lost covers. Cassidy himself framed his mandate around people and outcomes rather than systems for their own sake: "Processes and systems are vital to operational excellence, but their primary purpose is to empower people and deliver tangible value to the customer."
The hire also reflects a broader trend in foodservice equipment distribution, where parts-and-supplies distributors are investing heavily in logistics infrastructure, real-time inventory visibility, and faster last-mile delivery to compete with both broadline distributors and direct-from-manufacturer channels. For dealers sourcing replacement parts or stocking smallwares, a more operationally mature DFS could translate to tighter lead times and better order accuracy — the two levers that most directly affect a service tech's ability to turn a repair call.
From a dealer-channel perspective, DFS's continued investment in senior operational talent suggests the Vernon Hills, Illinois-based distributor is positioning for volume growth rather than consolidation — a posture that independent dealers and multi-unit operators evaluating prep-and-storage sourcing partnerships will want to track.
