The Q3 Numbers
Paris Baguette awarded 32 franchise agreements, signed 22 leases, and opened 15 bakery cafés in Q3 2026, bringing year-to-date totals to 119 agreements, 83 leases, and 53 new locations. With 341 cafés now operating across North America and 40 additional units slated to open before year-end, the brand is fast approaching 400 locations and $1 billion in systemwide sales — a pace that represents a significant ongoing pipeline of commercial kitchen buildouts for equipment dealers, design-build firms, and foodservice consultants.
Each Paris Baguette café requires a back-of-house operation capable of supporting fresh-daily bread and pastry production, made-to-order beverage service, and hot sandwich preparation. That profile typically calls for deck or rack ovens, proofers, commercial refrigeration for dough and dairy, espresso and blended-beverage equipment, and full ventilation buildouts — spec decisions that fall squarely to the dealers and consultants supporting franchisees entering new markets.
New Markets, New Builds
Third-quarter highlights included the first franchise agreement for Maine and a first-ever café opening in Albuquerque, New Mexico, extending the brand into additional greenfield markets. Existing Texas franchisees also signed agreements to develop six locations in Missouri and three in Pennsylvania — multi-unit development deals that can consolidate equipment procurement and allow dealers to negotiate volume pricing across a franchisee's portfolio. For dealer-channel partners tracking regional growth, these multi-unit agreements in the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic represent emerging opportunities for both initial spec and service contracts.
The brand ranked No. 41 on the Franchise Times Top 400 — a ranking based on global systemwide sales — and has held the No. 1 bakery café slot in Entrepreneur's Franchise 500® for six consecutive years. That visibility helps attract well-capitalized franchisees, which in turn supports timely equipment investment and faster store openings.
Kitchen Build Implications
As Paris Baguette moves toward its stated goal of 1,000 North American cafés, the cumulative equipment demand across its development pipeline is substantial. Consultants specifying small-to-mid-footprint bakery café kitchens should note the brand's emphasis on handcrafted, fresh-baked product made on-site daily, which drives a heavier oven and proofer load than a typical QSR buildout. Energy efficiency is increasingly relevant in this segment, as energy-and-sustainability pressures push franchisors and franchisees alike to specify ENERGY STAR-rated cooking and refrigeration equipment to manage utility costs at scale.
CEO Darren Tipton framed the expansion as community-driven, pointing toward the 1,000-café target as a long-term horizon. With 40 Q4 openings already planned and a robust lease pipeline in place, the buildout cadence shows no sign of slowing through the near term.
