Foodservice operators have rated TOPPAN Packaging the top-ranked supplier for both product quality and value for money in an independent study conducted by Technomic — placing it ahead of seven other major packaging suppliers evaluated in the April 2026 research.

The Technomic custom study (Study #20371) surveyed foodservice operators who were actively purchasing from each supplier included in the analysis, making the results a direct measure of satisfaction among existing buyers rather than general brand awareness. Among the eight suppliers assessed, TOPPAN Packaging posted a two-percentage-point lead over the second-place finisher in quality ratings and a five-percentage-point lead in value ratings. The study's base for TOPPAN-specific results was 66 current customers.

What Operators Are Buying

TOPPAN Packaging's foodservice portfolio spans portion-control packaging, lidding films, CPET trays and containers, pouches, rollstock, and sustainable packaging solutions. The company also offers custom tooling and heat-sealing equipment — a back-of-house angle that differentiates it from suppliers who limit their scope to consumable packaging alone. That equipment layer matters to operators and consultants specifying prep and packaging lines for commissary kitchens, ghost kitchen buildouts, and high-volume QSR operations, where heat-sealing reliability directly affects throughput and food safety.

"As foodservice operators continue facing pressures related to labor, sustainability and operating costs, packaging must deliver more than product containment," said Laura Buen Abad, Chief Technology Officer at TOPPAN Packaging. "It must simplify operations, protect product quality, enhance the consumer experience and create value across the supply chain."

Market Context

The survey results arrive at a moment of significant pressure across the foodservice supply chain. Operators in segments ranging from quick-service restaurants and convenience retail to healthcare dining, higher education, and hospitality are reassessing packaging vendors as they navigate tightening labor budgets and growing sustainability mandates. Packaging that integrates with back-of-house prep-and-storage workflows — reducing handling steps or enabling cook-chill and sous vide protocols — increasingly factors into purchasing decisions alongside unit cost.

TOPPAN Packaging is a relatively recent entrant under its current brand identity in the North American foodservice market, which makes the survey findings notable: despite lower overall brand familiarity than legacy competitors, the company achieved the highest satisfaction scores among operators who had direct purchasing experience with it. Ron Milz, President & CEO, attributed the results to a focus on operational performance alongside product quality. "Delivering quality packaging solutions is essential, but equally important is helping customers achieve reliability, operational performance and long-term value," he said.

For dealers and distributors tracking the cold chain and packaging equipment category, TOPPAN's combined consumables-and-equipment offer — domestic manufacturing, global innovation resources through TOPPAN Group, and now a ranked-first customer satisfaction position — positions it as a vendor worth evaluating for operator accounts facing packaging line upgrades or new kitchen buildouts.
